This is easily our favorite summer hike on the Mesa. 🥾Park at the Glacier Springs Campground parking area—at the Mesa Lakes turn off, just past the fee area (Day use fee is required). 🥾From this point the hike is 2.5 miles round trip. 🥾There is an emerald lake at the end (Lost Lake) and it is definitely freezing cold! Ideal for a quick plunge—or not! 🥾There isn’t much beach area, just rocks and gravel, but we’ve always been able to find a place to tuck in for a break. 🥾Pack a lunch and eat at the picnic area at the trailhead! 🥾(There are vault toilets at the trailhead too!) The Lost Lake hike is not usually very crowded, and it feels so good to get out of the heat and enjoy the beautiful surroundings! #grandjunction #westslopebestslope #hike #cooldown #sharegj

Telluride, CO is just 2.5 hours from Grand Junction, and can make for a fun day trip that’s so worth the driving time! You can spend a lot of money if you want, but we just kept it simple and cheap! Here’s what we did: ⭐️Left Grand Junction at 8:00 am, and arrived in Telluride just after 10:30am We Parked in the free parking lot called Car Henge, and walked the river trail until we reached the Gondola Station. ⭐️ Hopped on the Gondola (totally free and so fun!) to Mountain Village ⭐️We played cornhole, giant connect 4 and Jenga until we were ready for lunch. ⭐️ We packed a picnic lunch and ate it in one of the Gondola picnic tables (old gondolas they turned in to eating areas) ⭐️ After lunch we walked some of the paths in Mountain Village and played at the playground. ⭐️ We stopped at the Visitor’s center for a $1 candy bar before heading back to Telluride in the Gondola. ⭐️ Once we got back, we took a walk on the streets of Telluride and found an ice cream cart. Decided to run off some energy playing tag at the park while we ate ice cream! ⭐️ We walked on the river trail again to our car and drove back to Grand Junction, getting home around 5:00pm.
